merry xmas!!!!!!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: An Irish Christmas (Audio CD)
elder sister of enya, moya's carea has been largely over shadowed by her sibling yet has a much better voice and varied style of music. Moya weaves her distinct irish tones round christian favourites such as christina rosetti's 'in the bleak midwinter and secular holiday tunes such as 'deck the halls'. A christmas album to curl up to infront of the fire and relax to in the long nights!

A refreshing Christmas album...,
This review is from: An Irish Christmas (Audio CD)
In the midst of "poppy" American singers coming out with less than traditional Christmas records, and cheesy fake Celtic Christmas albums recorded by people who think they can make good, genuine Irish music just because they own a penny whistle, there is still hope!Moya Brennan, lead singer of the Irish family band Clannad, has finally released her own Christmas album. Yes, she has appeared on many, many Christmas albums in the past, but this album is quite different from any of those. From the first track to the last, beautiful vocals adorn every track. Believe me - Moya cares about quality. Rumor has it she even hanged Christmas lights in the studio as this album was being recorded. The instrumentalists knew exactly what they were doing, too. Also, Moya's harp she found in Two Horizons is back, and we hear it throughout the whole of this album. From beginning to end, this album definitely has a Moya feel. And a Moya feel is a genuine Celtic feel from a genuine Irish lady - the first lady of Celtic music. BTW, my favorite tracks are Do You Hear / Don Oíche ud i mBeithil, Joy To The World, I Still Believe, In Dulci Jubilo, and Oíche Chúin (Silent Night), although every track on this album is exceptional. This review is purposely not too in-depth, because I want you to listen to the album and develop your own feel for the album, instead of taking what I've said and making it your own. Do yourself a favor: enhance your Christmas memories this year with a copy of this album!

The Christmas Album much needed,

The problem with Christmas Albums can be that they sound "One Take" not much thought "Sing a Longs".In this case this album uses both Carols and Christmas Songs in a respectful joyous and caring sense. Thus the 12 tracks have been given proper preparation. For me the best are "In the Bleak Midwinter",which is sung in a gentle nurturing style which symbolises this singer and can hardly be bettered and."Deck the Halls" is for me another oustanding performance with an enchanting melody.I would ask people not to judge the album on the first track which is an atmospheric,"The Wexford Carol" which follows is on firm footing and nothing jarrs.
