Product Description

Product Description

Irises are among the most beautiful flowering plants that can be grown in temperate climates. These stunning plants have a range that encompasses all colours of the rainbow and can provide spectacular focal plants for a mixed border, by water, among shrubs, in a rock garden, or in beds by themselves. This concise, illustrated handbook contains detailed information on all aspects of iris care, providing invaluable reference for amateur gardeners and experienced growers alike. The straightforward approach to essential techniques, together with advice on tackling pests and other problems, and the directory of recommended varieties, will ensure successful results.

A good buy, gives me good basic information on growing the different types of Iris but found that it is not uptodate with latest named varieties available from many of the nurseries. It would be better if the Ireses were listed in the index alphabetically irrespective of type/species because many Garden Centres only give basic information on their plant labels, eg Iris Imperial Magic - you then have to go through all of the different species to see if it is included in the book. This is a common fault of many similar books and other readers will probably argue that my suggested way of listing is not practical. Otherwise a very good book and very pleased with it, tells me what I wanted to know about growing Irises.
