The discerning traveller's guide to Ireland,

I used to own an older edition of this guide before it was cruelly thrown away by an obsessively tidy relative, and it took some time to find a replacement.The newer version is glossier, snappier, and with more up to date information on opening times, contact numbers, routes etc., but it lacks the charm of the original. Many of the more unusual places have been left out along with the quaint comments on places which made it such an enjoyable read. However, it still contains many of Ireland's lesser known wonders and remains ideal for the discerning traveller who wants to see more than Giant's Causeway, the Ring of Kerry and an "authentic" thatched pub purpose built for American tourists. It's also well written and readable, and represents an enormous amount of detailed research by the authors.
