About the Author

Shiva Rahbaran was born in 1970 in Tehran. She left Iran for Germany in 1984, where she studied literature and political science at the Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf. She continued her studies at Oxford University, where she was granted a Ph.D. in English literature. Nilou Mobasser is an Iranian translator and occasional contributor to the Index on Censorship, currently living in England.
