Nearly cracked it 18 May 2011

Have been looking for a wireless streaming solution for some time. Have had this for 24 hours. Also have a Roku box. This beats the Roku hands down for a UK user ( we do not have Netflix, or Amazon rental) and the Roku system takes so long to load. The streaming capabilities from a DLNA certified streamer are superb. The browser is a little cumbersome on the one hand but enables you to use BBC iplayer and similar without a problem. I have a NAS and so opted for the option without storage. The wifi works well on our home network, but would perhaps be neater if it were on board rather than as a USB stick. Unlike the competitors it comes with an HDMI and a standard AV cable. Great buy so far.

I bought this simple little player purely as a convenience, my usual listening kit being a mid range Cyrus CD player through Premere Amp into System Audio Towers and all the appropriate cables for that kit...Boy did I underestimate the quality of this player, on FLAC files it produces an open sound without being rich (which can be tireing after a while) even Mp3 play was exceptional with only the meerest hint of compression (remember to record your Mp3's at the highest quality, you won't regret it)
Video playback also took me by surprise, over here (UK and Ireland) it is not as yet Netflix compatable though this source is not what I bought the player for, but it would be nice.
Simply put for music and video playback..Garbage in Garbage out. keep your source recording quality high.
There are of course some foibles:
1. The remote takes a bit of getting used to.
2. When I played a full album it 'froze' after the last track, requiring me to 'unplug/plug back in' to reset. This no longer happens though (see 3 below)
3. All such devices 'run warm' as there is no ventilation or heat sink for the chips, I raised my device off the 'ground' by placing some neoprene (or similar) pads under it, the result a cooler running device and it has not 'frozen' since.

Note that these are meerly 'foibles' and not major issues.

The Iomega would have recieved my full 5 Star rating were it not for the above minor foibles and the Netflix issue.

You can probably tell that I like this player and for the money it would be hard to beat it for quality, even with a dedicated CD player at a substantially higher price.
There are many Multi Media Players out there at various prices, find one you like sit back and enjoy, I don't think you will be disapointed.

This is a nice little machine that was easily connected, came complete with cables needed, and recognized our external HD directly and made the various movies on the drive quickly visible and easily accessible. What we really bought it for was to have access to our slingbox on a second TV, but the browser on the Iomega doesn't support it (or the other way around the slingbox doesn't support the browser on the Iomega). In the end it has been a nice, not to expensive, way to play our stored media.
