CD Description
While the flute boasts an enormous contemporary repertoire, only a small number of these works truly examine the instrument or challenge the performer in a way that breaks new ground: rarely do we come across a re-framing of the technical and more importantly, musical potential of the flute. However, during the latter half of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first a number of works have been composed for flute which have achieved iconoclastic status. Inward humbly outlines these achievements of some of the major composers of our time, as well as introducing newer works into the circle. The repertoire contained on this disc is the result of six years of collaborations, meetings and confrontations, throughout which the works have played a large part in Richard Craig s development as a musician.
