DARREN SHAN describes this book as “A fast-paced fury of a novel, packed with genuine scares and thrills. It made me shiver more than once and I devoured it at lightning speed. I'll definitely be checking back to see how this creepy, deliciously nightmarish series develops!" He’s not wrong…

Billy is the hardest kid in school and a horrible bully. So Kyle could almost find it funny that Billy's childhood invisible friend was a little dolly named Raggy Maggie.

Almost, but not quite.

Because now Raggy Maggie is back, and she wants Kyle to play a game. The game is very simple. Find where she's hidden Billy – or Billy dies…

Another masterpiece 12 Aug 2010

This man is a wonderful writer. I have been eagerly awaiting this book and I have not been disappointed he is truly inspired.

He walks the tightrope of suspense with ease and I have no doubt whatsoever that I will be writing similar reviews in ten years time.

He is the Stephen King of small peoples suspense.

If you ever lay in bed as a kid and wondered if that toy in the corner of the room moved then this is a book for you, not for the faint hearted it will have you sleeping with the lights on and moving those cuddly toys out into the bin.

Thanks for a wonderful book Mr Hutchison looking forward to the next as are my kids.

I just recently read and reviewed the first book in the Invisible Fiends series. Number two is out very soon (not soon enough for some of you if the impatient queries are anything to go by) and I have been lucky enough to get a sneak preview.
It's better than number one. Which is no mean feat because number one was pretty awesome. In the second book, poor Kyle faces two obstacles: the distinctly creepy Raggy Maggie and *screams* going back to school after the Christmas holidays! He upsets Billy the school bully and when both are hauled to the headteacher's office, things start to go horribly, horribly wrong.
This book ramps up the fear factor even more impressively than book one because far more is at stake. Kyle is suddenly not just running for his own life but against the clock to save others. Raggy Maggie's inventive obstacles would frankly give Freddy Krueger a run for his money and I personally will never be mean to another teddy bear again. Ever. Not that I ever was really, except maybe the odd carry-by-the-ear moment...oh and inadvertantly setting one alight when I sat it beside the fire... Dolls have given me the creeps for as long as I can remember and if you have an adversion to them, well Raggy Maggie ain't gonna cure you that's for sure because this book is full of the most gruesome kind (and I don't mean Barbie Wedding Day Bride).
What I am enjoying most about these books is the back story which is slowly emerging and wickedly tantalising. Why is Kyle's dad so evil? What is it that mum knows? Who is Ameena really (although I think I may have guessed)? Why does Kyle have certain abilities? And when do the squirrels make an appearance? Just kidding about that last question. However, Barry doesn't like squirrels, so I suspect somewhere along the line in the series some evil ones will emerge and meet a spectacularly creative end! And that is what this series is turning into - a spectacularly creative, fantastical story that mustn't end until I have been scared so much I have to sleep with the lights on. I believe that happens around about book four. Bring it on!

The following reviews were written by children in Primary 4 and 5. They just can't get enough of Invisible Fiends!!!

Raggy Maggie HA HA HA

In Invisible Fiends Raggy Maggie the main character is Kyle.

Kyle meets his dad and a psychotic 5 year old. Ameena is another character. She is a girl and she is so much stronger than him, she is braver than him as well. It is the best book in the world because it is exciting!

My favourite bit is when Billy and Kyle goes on a motorbike and Billy has a helmet that says, "BIG SEXY MAMA".

YOU should read it is brilliant!!

By Gemma, P.4

Caddies Game of Death
Mr Mumbles was right there are millions of them... well another one anyway. In the second Invisible fiends Kyle and Ameena met a psychotic 5year old.

This book is very good because it is scary and it is exciting the age is 9+ you can read it when you are 9 years old or older because it
might be to scary for younger people. Teachers can read it to your class.

My favourite part was when Kyle and Billy was going on the motorbike and when Billy had his helmet on it said, "sexy mamma" it was very funny but a bit inappropriate and I liked when caddie took over Miss Milton that was funny.

Please please buy this book and I will not reveal the ending of Raggy Maggie you will need to buy the book to find out what happens I loved the book it was very good please by the book and all the other Barry Hutchison's books and the new books please please by this amazing books!

Raggy Maggie Ha Ha Ha

Kyle has just beaten his imaginary friend. A boy in his class, Billy beats Kyle up all the time he has an imaginary friend too, Caddy and her doll called, Raggy Maggie... she's nuts! This book is funny and weird. To read it you have to be nine and over. My favourite part is when the doll tries to eat Kyle. I feel like I don't want to stop reading but I'm not going to tell you the rest you'll have to read it for yourself!

Raggy Maggie's Revenge

Mr Mumbles was right there are millions of them...
Well another one anyway in the second book with Raggie Maggie Kyle and Ameena find a psychotic five year old.

This is a funny book but also a very very scary book.

If you want to read this book you have to be eight or over and I am sure you will want to read it because even our teacher enjoyed it. I have two favourite parts one of them is when Kyle is going on the motorbike and he has to wear a pink helmet saying, "sexy mama" and a part at the end but I can't tell you. You need to read it for your self and see!

The author is Barry Hutchison and there is six invisible fiends to get but only four are out that is Mr Mumbles, Raggie Maggie, the Crowmaster and Doc Mortis. They are all good books. Please please buy them you will be amazed it is so exiting.

This book is brilliant and great it is good because it is funny. My favourite part was when Billy's hat had sexy mamma written all over it. This book is suitable for age 9 and up adults may enjoy the book as well. Please buy Raggy Maggie

THE RETURN OF THE BAD GUYS

A little freaky five year old has been sent by a sicko. The main character, Kyle couldn't believe it was over on Christmas day but he couldn't believe Mr Mumble's was right there are millions of Invisible Fiends. Well so far two. Kyle meets Ameena they go through all of this cool scary freaky and excellent stuff!
Please get Mr Mumbles, Raggy Maggie and the Crowmaster books. My favourite bit is when Billy's helmet says "SEXY MAMA" on it.

Raggy Maggie Review
I liked the part when Caddie went in a tornado and she said "weeeeeeeee." Caddie is crazy 5 year old with a crazy doll. Mrs Milton, the head mistress got taken over by Caddie and had imaginary coffee spilled. Caddie tried to kill Kyle and Ameena. He meets his dad in his school. The first book is Mr Mumbles then Raggy Maggie then Crowmaster then Doc Mortis so please buy Invisible Fiends!!
