Format: Paperback
The story from issues 25-30 of Image Comics' Invincible are collected as Invincible, Vol. 6: A Different World: Different World v. 6. This is an extremely entertaining comic, and although story might not be entirely original, this is made up for with excellent scripting and artwork.

THE SPOILER ZONE
These issues see Science Dog visiting the home of Mark and his Mother, which naturally leads to some consternation, and not a little violence. It appears that Science Dog is an alien disguised thereas, in order to approach Mark without causing unnecessary panic. It appears the alien's world is under dire threat and they need Invincible's help. Against the orders of his Government handler, he packs his bag, and sets off for the new world, where he meets his father, the ruler. But... he was elected leader, and he is doing his best to defend it against the Viltrumians, who are coming to kill him and destroy the civilisation that he is ruling as punishment for abandoning his post on Earth. Let us say that it doesn't go as badly as it might have done, as Nolan is eventually captured and carted off to evil central, while Mark, having fought successfully and proved himself a worthy warrior, is appointed Viltrumian ruler-elect of earth and given a century to conquer it, before they come looking for him. He also inherits a baby half-brother, who returns to Earth with him. "Hi Mom, I'm home... and I have a present for you". Meanwhile, on Earth, it is Robot's turn to hire the Mauler Brothers...

It might not sound like much, but, as I said above, this is an extremely entertaining comic, and has excellent scripting and artwork that carry the story magnificently.

Same as the previous books, just when you're getting bored, the page turns and you're back on the edge of your seat.

Contains one of the best superhero battles I've seen in a long time 21 Jun 2007
By HJ Louw - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This is a magnificent trade paperback collecting issues 25 - 30 of Robert Kirkman's Invincible, with a few extras included, such as pencil sketches of selected panels and splash pages, along with commentary by the author and artist. In these collected issues we see Mark Grayson flying off into space to save a race of insect-like aliens from extermination. This leads to Mark being reunited with a certain someone who was last seen flying off into space after beating Mark into a bloody pulp. Eventually the Viltrumites arrive, and what follows is the bloodiest (and best) super-brawl I 've seen in ages. Sure, the action's there, but what makes Incincible so appealing to a wide variety of readers is also the non-stop drama that Kirkman specializes in (see Walking Dead if you don't believe me). While Mark is off saving a planet, his family and friends deal with his absence and a few menaces plaguing the earth to boot. Character development is strong and Mark's girlfriend Amber is being fleshed out by Kirkman as more scenes are being devoted to her and how she deals with her life as the girlfriend of a superhero. Kirkman also introduces an interesting new element into the story in the form of a little 'surprise' from Mark's dad, but I don't want to ruin anything for you. Read the book and find out. It's a humdinger!

A Different World indeed! 25 Aug 2011
By S. Penrose - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
Robert Kirkman has such an amazing grasp of the characters in this world he has created. Mark always sounds like Mark and that isn't as easy as it sounds. Here we a long needed reunion that doesn't end well for almost anyone. The background characters are given many chances to steal scenes and they do for the most part but at times I feel there are just too many supporting characters. They don't get enough panels in each trade that readers almost forget what's going on with them. The art is the same as always, solid but unspectacular but the fight scenes are always good and bloody. Overall a good book in a good series.

If you are reading this review then you must be familiar with Invincible and already know that this truly is the best super hero comic on the market. This story arc contains plenty of twists to keep the reader intrigue and introduces plot developments that will be critical to future story lines. If you havent read Invincible yet pick up the two Ultimate Collection hard covers and see what you are missing by not reading this great title.
