there are very few films that I feel are truly terrible, but this is one of them. It never lives up to the expectations that are set up in the opening sequence. It promises to be a high fantasy martial arts movie ("the Matrix meets X-Men" it says on the back of the DVD box). There is far too much dialogue for a start and the exposition is clumsily delivered by hammy Zane who should have learned his lesson after the similarly bad Phantom. The relationships between the main characters never really gel and as a result when one of their number dies, their grief is unbelievable.
The martial arts is minimum and it is like watching a tae bo video when we do actually get to see some. All in all, this is very much like a pilot for a show that TV execs could see was a massive turkey from miles away! It should be avoided at all costs and Billy Zane should take warning- another couple of films like this and he'll be taking orders for burgers at a drive-in near you, that's all I'm saying!
