If you want a clear view of Einstein's model of Brownian motion then you have to read the original papers themselves. This book collects together five of his key papers between 1905 and 1908 in a corrected version (Einstein often got things wrong in the papers), with an additional commentary as a set of notes.

Einstein was a clear writer and he was also very careful in showing how he had come to his views. This makes it very clear how the theory originated and what were the key steps towards developing the theory and this understanding makes quite a challenging subject more accessible. I would recommend it to anyone studying Brownian motion or statistical mechanics to see a great mind at work.

A Classic 27 Nov 2011

Wonderful book. It is just awesome to see what the papers looked like back then and see these important publications all in one place.
Great little read 16 Nov 2011
By Betty C. Rostro - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This was required reading for my Masters Thesis defense. Neat little book. I found that in spite of us having nanotechnology, that most of the current laws of thermodynamics are still applicable and not violated in spite of what some researchers may claim. This book helped prove and reinforce those findings.
