Invasion from space through a virus which takes over the bodies of people. Lively and exciting story, mostly believable. A group of a few dedicated biology experts fight the virus and the increasing part of mankind which the virus has taken over.

I couldn't believe this was written in 1997 and not 1957!
The plot is almost identical to "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers". Instead of pods we have little black discs, instead of sleep the "snatching" is done subsequent to influenza-like symptoms.
This was my first Robin Cook novel and I must say I was extremely disappointed. I will give him the benefit of the doubt and read one more. However, having looked at his ratings I suspect my opinion will not change!

The earth is invaded by strange black discs which sting and infect people. An alien virus implanted millions of years ago into mankind's genetic code is being revived. People start to behave strangely and some of them become mutants, half lizard, half human. But a handful of haunted refugees struggle to piece together the puzzle of this improbable invasion in an attempts to save humanity.

great story, bad book
Okay, I'm going out on a limb here, or maybe a couple of limbs. I like Robin Cook, I think he is a terrific story teller with really good ideas and have read most of his books. Read more

Intriguing novel that keeps you reading to the end
With most science fiction books, this one included, you are expected to stretch your imagination somewhat. Nonetheless, I found the character development pretty good. Read more

So scarily bad you'll wish the plot was real!
Not worth wasting my time on this creation. Where was the plot, decent characters. Not Cook's best effort by far- hard to believe he wrote it!
