Book-keeping that's easy to follow and quick to do
QuickBooks Regular has all the essentials, with invoicing, bill paying, and features for tracking and reporting. QuickBooks Regular helps you manage your books, organise information in one place, and ultimately make confident business decisions - all in less time.
Designed for Small Business
No accounting knowledge is needed as QuickBooks Regular handles the accounting for you - flawlessly. You work in business rather than accounting language and simply complete familiar forms - e.g. cheques and invoices - on screen.
Fast, worry free set up
QuickBooks Regular has easy to use help features so you can find information faster. You can quickly learn everything you need to know through the new Resource Area. Plus, if you need more assistance you can find local QuickBooks help.
Pay Bills and Track Expenses
Keeping track of expenditure is easy with QuickBooks Regular. You can write a cheque for any kind of expense you incur or enter a bill for items that you have received on credit. In the Pay Bills window, QuickBooks Regular lists all unpaid bills, or all bills you want to pay, and QuickBooks Regular then writes and records the cheques or credit card charges.

In short, it does everything you want it to, and offers you scope to write your own custom enhancements as you see fit.
The problems? This is where it gets a bit murky.
Essentially, the UK version is reportedly fully FOUR YEARS behind the USA, which means that the changes in the 2006 edition that you can read about at www.intuit.com bear no resemblance at all the the UK's 2006 version ... but this is not made clear. You have to dig really hard to find this out and I can bet that someone out there will have upgraded without having needed to.
So what's in the UK 2006 version, then? Not a lot. It's mainly a maintenance release with updated online help files.
The good news is that SDK version 5.0 does work with the UK version and it does do everything that UK-based QuickBooks developers yearned for.
If you've got QB 2005, I'd hang on til at least QB 2007, depending on what's in it. If you're trying to decide which accounting software to choose, I still feel that QuickBooks has the edge over Sage and the slow-moving UK releases mean that you DO NOT have to take the yearly upgrades.
It's just a crying shame that Intuit continues to treat the UK with such disdain.
