3.0 out of 5 stars Good refresher course 12 Feb 2002
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Having completed a course on Statistics at the age of 18, this book offered a good refresher on basic statistics. The book offered a selection of self help questions at the end of each chapter but did not provide detailed answers. Total beginners found some of the concepts difficult to follow and more detailed answers with explanations would have been helpful.

2.0 out of 5 stars Review 3 Mar 2004
By A Customer
Format:Hardcover
Be careful using this book if you are also using other statistics books. This book gives some different symbols and the z-scores are slightly different. Beware that some of the questions can be frustrating because it may not tell in the book exactly how to do it, i.e in the large sample problem section, they give you a problem to solve using a small sample. You have to use the graph on the preceding page, but it doesn't even hint that you would need to use the computer generated graph and not a formula. I've been told by three mathematicians, that this is one of the worst books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Introduction to statistics ever 6 Aug 2009
By Youssman - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I've been a statistician for over 10 years now. I am also a part time teacher in statistics at different Universities. This book should be an example of how to present and explain some complex issues with simplicity and efficiency. Every new concept is first dicussed and explained by some example before introducing the math formulas. One of the rare book always on my desk.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Book. 2 Oct 2012
By mobsyorz - Published on Amazon.com

Explanations are satisfactory although a bit more clarity could be appreciated in terms of the logic behind some of the processes that are being used. The problems are extremely helpful in clarifying the subject matter and for review.

It has many helpful examples and it makes the subject easy to learn. I didn't read most of the text though. I mainly liked it for it's clear and well explained examples.

The book I received was of excellent quality, and minimal wear and tear. The price was very reasonable and I would recommend buying another product from the same source.
