I have been using the Bond workbooks for many years with my children and I am glad to see they have now started producing books for younger children. This is aimed at the first level in the series, aged 5-6. There are two English books for this age group. Firstly, there is Bond No Nonsense English 5-6 Years (Bond Assessment Papers), which is a workbook. Secondly, there is this book, which has twenty test, or assessment, papers. They practise comprehension, spelling, grammar, punctuation and vocabulary. The book includes answers and also has a progress chart, so you can see how your child is improving. The books can be used as extra homework and, if you continue with the series, then you will find them invaluable if you decide to sit your child for the 11+. At this age they will certainly help your child improve their English skills and there are also books in maths for this age group in the same series: Bond No Nonsense Maths 5-6 years (Bond Assessment Papers) and Bond Maths Assessment Papers 5-6 Years.

This as with the other papers in the series are an excellent preparatory work to lead to the harder papers and towards the 11+. Apart from 11+ it is good for putting your child ahead of the class in what they know in the subject.

Very useful as introduces them to the practice of English comprehension. The assessment log at the end serves to raise the child's morale as well as awareness of summative tests.

Highly recommended these bond books in all subjects, especially in preparation for the grammar school entrance exams for juniors. They have the answers in the centre for teacher/ parent. And a score chart on the back page . I think they also have a helpful web-sight too. They come in age groups too.

I use these books with my son so give him some extra practice with English.

By working through the book it gives me a good idea of where he needs help, and the areas he struggles with.

I really like these books as they are clear and well laid out.
