I bought this book after finishing A level media and heading towards degree level Film and Television Studies - though after spending a few minutes with the book I quickly realised that maybe this wasn't the book for me.

The reason is simple, as the book clearly states in the title this is an introduction and I'm guessing that if you're being introduced to media studies or FTV studies for the first time this book will be very helpful but unfortunately it wasn't half as detailed as I was hoping.

Instead it skims over a huge variety of subjects with very little substance and the book stays clear of major case study style material and theorists are absent all together.

Personally I think all of the information in this book could probably be found on the internet with roughly the same level of quality. But I guess it could be quite handy for hobbyists or AS and GCSE students.
