An excellent, thorough, straightforward introduction to radar technology. A little dated, however. Written on the level of an introductory graduate text. Essential for professionals new to the field and useful as a refresher for veteran radar engineers. Outclasses the competition.

Used previous editions from the company and have now finally decided to buy my own to annotate it. Skolnik is often the first port of call for radar engineering and with a large amount of references can lead to more detailed or specialised papers of interest.

This is NOT a book to teach you how to choose or use your radar for your weekend fishing boat. It IS the book to refer to when you are designing a radar system, or part of a system. It's very mathmatical, because this is a mathmatical subject. It is also VERY useful for microwave signalling engineers, i.e. Satellites, in terms of signal propagation, antenna design, etc. A Classic, if just a little dated now (hence 4 stars). Aimed at undergraduate level, my well-battered copy still sits on my bookshelf at work, and is referred to often.

Classic textbook for design engineers. Also very useful to any radar system operators - civil or military. This complex subject is described from basic terms to advanced calculations, including a wealth of theory and empirical data concerning athmospheric propagation. Well written and suitable for just about any level of user or design engineer.

...for this edition I had to make hand written corrections to equations. Missing denominators...not one but several terms...exponents in the wrong place...missing equations.

Perhaps I was unlucky and other copies were correct but a decent book that covers the main aspects of radar was ruined by terrible/incorrect typesetting.

This book is the definitive Radar textbook, this newer edition benefits more from easier presentation and writing style than from technical update. Over 20 years with two editions of this book, I've always found the text a bit of a struggle but I've managed a few clever things with its help.

A very mathmatical way of looking at radar. I thought there would be some impact of engineering and that it would be backed up with some mathmatical formula, but the entire book is purly maths. I have not seen any circuit diagrams of radar systems etc or how they work. This is not even close to electrical engineering and has not helped me at all as a radar engineer.

I was recommended this author in the early 80's, I'm glad to finally catch up with the subject.
