Product Description

Product Description

This is a thoroughly updated and revised edition of our highly acclaimed university textbook on the science of parapsychology. The objective of this book is to provide an introductory survey of parapsychologists' efforts to explore the authenticity and bases of anomalous, apparently paranormal phenomena. It outlines the origins of parapsychological research and critically reviews investigations of extrasensory perception, psychokinesis, poltergeist phenomena, near-death and out-of-body experiences, and the evaluation of parapsychology as a scientific enterprise.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best general intro to parapsychology!, 14 Jul 2008
By Etzel Cardena "anomalous psych researcher" (lund u., sweden) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
An Introduction to Parapsychology is an up-to-date and authoritative account of the field by two important contributors. It may very well be the most popular introductory text to parapsychology (in its 5th edition, a record that is probably unrivaled in recent parapsychology books). It is a thorough, balanced and thoutful coverage of parapsychology history, research, and critiques. The last chapter, an evaluation of parapsychology as science, is one of my favorite ones, as the authors bring to task many of the various specious and unfair criticisms of parapsychology, while simultaneously pointing out the still current limitations of the field.
