Product Description

Review

Although no textbook can be regarded as an alternative to supervised training, this introduction to orthodontics is a well laid out and easy to follow book that is full of useful information for dental undergraduates, dentists with an interest in orthodontics and specialists in related fields such as paediatric dentistry. (International Journal of Pediatric Dentistry )

This is a very affordable text, which should definitely be on the bookshelves of students as well as those general dental practitioners who wish to be aware of current concepts in orthodontics. (Dental Practice )

The first edition of An Introduction to Orthodontics became a popular textbook, being recommended for undergraduates and general practitioners with an interest in Orthodontics. Its concise, easily read and understood layout is repeated in the second edition... The problem with a book entitled 'An Introduction' is the level at which the information is pitched and the amount to be included. However, the book has achieved the right balance. (Dental Update )

It is the sort of book that benefits from being read from start to finish by the undergraduate as it covers everything (and more) that they will need for their exams... Anyone who is looking for contemporary orthodontic information suitable for undergraduates and general dental practitioners will find everything they need in this book. It should be available in every dental school library. (Journal of Orthodontics ) --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

I have been a big fan of this book.
It's so easy to read while still being informative and professional. Not all books manage to do so.
This edition has some important updates.
If you are an Orthodontic postgrad student or an Orthodontist who likes to go back to basics occassionally then this book is for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Exceptionally dry but will do the job, 22 July 2010
If orthodontics doesn't appeal to you then this book won't make it any easier. The text is VERY DRY AND BORING but does cover most topics in adequate detail. There are, however, some let-downs such as the description of fixed appliance mechanics is rather confusing / basic. Also, there is little / no guidance on removable appliance design.

5.0 out of 5 stars An introduction to Orthodontics, 19 Jun 2009
By Fan Chun Kwok "Island Mak" - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: An Introduction to Orthodontics (Paperback)
Not so many words at the Preface. However, I'm glad that I have it. Mine is the third edition. As the writer mentions, time doesn't mean anything. It is the passsion. I note it down,"At times it does feel as if the first is true, but I presently subscribe to the idea that given the rapid pace of change in any clinical subject that in order to reflect current practice regular revisions of a text are a fact of life". Love never fails. That's keep us as a dentist and flight for it. The book tells fully explanation to orthodontics with easily understanding words. So, it is not just good to a neophyte. It is also good for a dentist that english is not her/his mother language.
