Mantra Girl Kundalini Yoga DVD!

This is my first DVD by Erin Kamler 'Mantra Girl' and I really like it. The production is good, the setting is outdoors and there are four other girls taking part with Erin in centre. The two girls at the back do some modifications. The sea is in the background, it is lovely. The music that accompanies the class is truly beautiful and does help to keep you going.

I find Erin easy to understand and I was comfortable with her teaching method. I liked the structure of the class and found it flowed well. It begins with a Tune In via Mantra. Then there is a good warm up section which I particulary enjoy and it prepares the body and mind for the following set. The set is challenging for me especially extended arm movements and I work within my own limits. This is something to keep practicing and with time changes will come. Most importantly I have fun and benefit greatly. There is a relaxation period and some lovely meditation singing mantra's and then Tune Out with a Mantra. I feel energised and tranquil at the end of the class. This DVD is soon becoming a favourite in my rotation of Kundalini DVD's! I feel the effects so quickly!

I had practiced Hatha Yoga for approx one year before discovering Kundalini Yoga. My main practice is now Kundalini Yoga.

Update 1st May 2010

I have to say that this Class is superb!

What I like about Erin is that she allows plenty of time in each posture or Kriya for you to experience going deeper both physically into a stretch or spiritually going deeper into meditation. I also find that she reminds you to 'breath long and deep' throughout and this really does make a difference to my experience. The mantra music is truly blissful and the accompanying CD a real treat. I am delighted with this DVD.

I like the way Mantra Girl introduces her helpers in the DVD and two of them show you a modified version of the exercises as the rest go along which is helpful for different levels of fitness. She uses pieces of Indian prayers for her music, which is also provided separately in a bonus CD. There is a good range of meditation and good focus on breathing. Bear in mind that you are not supposed to lean your head backwards on your neck, you lean backwards with your shoulders and slightly on the lower back which will bring your head back enough. At times it was hard to see what she was doing with her whole body and she doesn't explain either like Gurmukh does or what to do with the parts of your body that you are not currently using but may be tense so perhaps this would be a good in conjunction with a steadier more explained DVD. There are times when movements are exaggerated, neglecting good posture for the sake of a good camera angle hence it has a 'sexy' feel to it. If you want to say the chants at the end with fuller intended meaning, Hindi would be more appropriate rather than Punjabi, as Kundalini yoga and philosophy is older.

one of my favourites 29 Dec. 2008

I love this DVD. It was one of the first yoga DVDs I ever tried, and is very do-able for people "of size" as there are modified moves and options for just about everything that could be difficult or discouraging. It takes hardly any time to go right to the regular unmodified moves, too.

The music on this DVD is what pushed it to 5 stars vs 3-4 stars for me. It's awesome and helps keep you focused when otherwise you might get tired and want to stop or rest or quit. The CD is great when you just want to meditate or just sit and chill and focus your mind on something other than stressful junk.

Mantra Girl....Kundalini Yoga Class 29 April 2010
By Dawnymarie - Published on
Mantra Girl Kundalini Yoga

I have been practicing Kundalini Yoga now for over a year and have an established morning practice, prior to discovering Kundalini Yoga I had practiced Hatha Yoga for over a year. I now have a great library of DVD classes that I rotate which include Maya Fiennes, Ana and Ravi, Gurumkh, Gurutej and Carolyn Cowan...all lovely to work with.

The Detox and Destress Class by Maya Fiennes was my first DVD and initially I found it challenging and in comparisson I found Mantra Girls DVD Class much more of a challenge...especially the arm movements. Now that I have become more experienced with regular practice the Class is much more achieveable though I work within my limitations on any given day.

The class is set in stunning scenery with the sea in the background. There are some female students who work alongside Erin (Mantra Girl) and two do modifications of the postures which I benefit from. The accompanying music/mantra's are divine and are so inspirational in keeping you going as is Erin who encourages throughout.

The class begins with the Tune in via mantra and then there is a good warm up section which includes Sufi Grind, Spinal flexes, Stretch pose, Camel Pose with modification, Leg stretches to lengthen the sciatic nerve and some modified push up's. I particularly enjoy the warm up section, the postures are done for a good amound of time to enable you to really loosen up and go deeper into stretches. I feel prepared in body and mind for the next section. The next section of the class works on the 8th Chakra, the Aura to develop radience and project and protect. I find it a challenge but it is very enjoyable and if I need to rest and start again that is what I do and it is fine. I am finding that I can do more and more for longer and longer now. The next part of the class is Deep Relaxation lying on your back in Savasana and that is followed by two lovely meditations...really beautiful. Class ends with Tune out via mantra.

This is a favourite for sure, I feel that I go deep into the practice with Erin, she teaches in a gentle way and I am comfortable with the structure of the class. I feel so blissful and relaxed though at the same time wonderfully energised...a lovely experience....thanks Erin, Sat Nam x

Truly uplifting and inspiring. The DVD is surpassed only by the music and chants, which will continue to work "in you" and "through you" during your everyday stress and journey in life. Highly recommended for the spiritual and active practice of yoga, meditation and a heightened inner reflection. Well done.

loved it 11 Jan. 2010

I used this DVD for the first time today. I feel that this is a wonderful work out. I started out in a stressed mood and was completely tranquil when it ended. The breath of fire is probably the key to the relaxing effect. I like the idea of bringing positive energy to the surrounding aura. The exercises were of the perfect length of time. Some other DVDs out there are not long enough in duration I do wish that there was at least one participant who did not have a perfect body, like the most of us, and maybe someone over 40. I am 54 and have done Kundalini for some time. It is for any age and any body! I hope she makes some more, please please! I will use this as often as I can now.

Good workout, good soundtrack 10 Jun. 2009

I like this workout. It's more intense than the Kundalini Yoga to Detox and Destress, with Maya Fiennes (which was challenge enough when I first got it). The soundtrack is great.
