I am about to buy a property with a large garden and would like some chickens, but this short read didn't give a great insight on whether I should have all hens or a cockerel and hens. I would be better going to my local pet shop for advice. Lots of useful websites though.

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful little book but quite basic info 22 Mar 2012

This book gives an overview of keeping chickens with some useful information but it is quite basic, only taking me around 20 minutes to read. Don't expect to be an expert on chicken keeping after reading it but it gives a good introduction as the title would suggest.

4.0 out of 5 stars Are you considering keeping chickens? 8 Feb 2013
By Velma Dinkley Rogers - Published on Amazon.com
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book gets four stars for delivering what the title promised. If you've been considering raising a few hens for eggs or maybe some for the stew pot, this book gives you an overview of what you will be diving into. The guide is written for the novice and should help a reader to decide if chickens are right for them. Though the author is from the UK, the book is easily applicable to any country.

I have had. Chickens for many years & still found this very interesting. There was only a small part I disagreed with at the end of the book.
