Product Description

Review

Full of useful information, clearly written in a down-to-earth style, with interesting case studies. As a second edition, it takes into account the new SEN legislation and Code of Practice, making useful comparisons between the old and new procedures...a well written, reader-friendly book. (Nursery World )

Student teachers will find this book most useful. (Education Review )

Product Description

Working with children with special educational needs is part of the syllabus for all child care and teacher training courses. This second edition of the established text provides a clear, accessible overview of this complex field, providing students with a framework from which to develop their approach to unfamiliar situations. Drawing on his experience as a former special needs teacher and a journalist, the author has included interviews and word portraits of children with SEN, their parents and the staff to educate and care for them. This edition includes fresh coverage on working in partnership with parents and carers, and more details on alternative methods of communication.
