5.0 out of 5 stars Introduction to AutoCAD 2005 by JT Roberts, 10 Aug 2005
I am a Drawing Office Manager for a worlwide American petroleum company and responsible for over 200 design and engineering staff for Europe, based in the UK, with drawing offices in various European countries. I have used the previous Introduction to AutoCAD books by this author to train new and existing staff and they are such a boon to helping the staff gain the skills on the latest AutoCAD software. This book, like the others, is easy to follow, and each new version includes the latest commands etc. The book is addictive as it makes you want to complete the drawing (you work towards a single completed drawing, placed on a drawing frame, unlike other books which have itty bitty exercises and not much to show at the end). It makes my job easy in training the staff and includes the correct method of creating blocks and brilliant chapters on 3D and Paper Space and Model Space. It also has a chapter on practise exercies for the complete beginner. The cover graphics show the 3D model after it has been rendered with 3D Studio. My only gripe is that we ain't using the book back home in the States as it's in metric. Request a translation to feet and inches for the USA - it would sell a billion. Great stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic - I can actually use Autocad now., 22 Feb 2006
By A Customer
Absolutely fantastic. Having never even seen Autocad in my life, not having come from an engineering/design background and at first glance at the programme being completely baffled I thought that by buying a book it may help, at least it couldn't make it worse. This book was amazing, it takes you through step by step, making it clear, simple and logical and giving you regular little boosts in confidence as you watch your drawing grow. Amazing. I am by no means an expert in Autocad now, but one week down the line i have the confidence to "have a go!".
