Book Description

20 Aug 2003 0333973690 978-0333973691
Introducing Systems Development offers a concise introduction to systems analysis and design, suitable for undergraduates on Computer Science or Business Studies programs. Based on Steve Skidmore's previous two books, Introducing Systems Analysis and Introducing Systems Design, this comprehensive text retains the strong practical emphasis that characterised these texts.

Key features include: extensive coverage of object-oriented methods and UML, coverage of more traditional structured techniques, end-of-chapter exercises and a developing case study. The book is also accompanied by a web site which offers full lecturer and student support materials.

Review

Well structured and illustrated text, suitable for level 2 introduction to system development -- Oliver Richardson, Course Tutor, Brunel University

From the Publisher

Since its publication, Introducing Systems Development has gone from strength to strength; attracting more and more students and adopters to its straightforward approach. The text is broken up with a large number of clear diagrams, flow charts and tables; and the case study that runs throughout the textbook, helps students see the application of the information they are learning in real world scenarios. The accompanying website includes PowerPoint slides for lecturers as well as answers to exercises from the book and additional questions and answers. There is also a chance at this website to examine a sample chapter from the book. The practical experience of the authors really helps students study and grasp the theory and application of contemporary systems development from the inception phase to the final phases of construction. This would be a valuable resource for any students on a course involving modern systems development.

Mind numbingly boring. All the info a student needs is there, but it's a real slog finding it. Not very useful on it's own, best used as part of a formal course.
