It is many years since I qualified at the College of Estate Management, books such as this did not exist in those days, now they do and that is a benefit for all who study the art and science of real estate valuation. This book is a very good introduction to property valuation well set out for easy access to fundamental concepts. The traditional methodology and modern methods of real estate valuation within United Kingdom are all there coupled with the unusual market details that need to be understood by professional valuers. All round this textbook should be on the shelves of all estate management BSc undergraduates. For those who suffer from poor quality lecturers this book will save your hide in the examination room. For practitioners it should be on your shelf as a vade mechum source of basic principles.
The book is presented chapter by chapter with progress questions to check that you have understood the text, there is a chapter summary to ensure you have grasped the fundamentals, and then there is a further reading section always valuable to follow up in the library or online.
Many publishers would have included the Internet appendix as a workbook with a price close to two thirds of the textbook price. The internet appendix includes practical exercises and examples with answers. A very useful text.
