Biography

Joss Stone has been obsessed with soul music since she was a little girl. By the time she was in her early teens she had begun to intuitively hone her now trademark gravelly-but-lustrous vocals by singing along to Aretha’s Franklin’s Greatest Hits. She began pursuing a singing career at thirteen, securing a record deal at 15, and recording her star-making debut album, The Soul ... Read more in Amazon's Joss Stone Store

I have to tell that this album is one of the best ever and of course the best R&B album ever and especially this Japanese version!!! It's perfect in everything!
Joss Stone proves us again that she is fantastic despite the fact the she tries to change and grow within her music! She is mature, she has undoubtedly a marvelous voice, she has passion and of course, great tracks and great collaborators!
Analytically:

Tracks: I have to tell that every single track is approaching perfection! 5 stars for all without exception! I was standing in front of the my laptop trying to find a track that it doesn't deserve 5 stars but I couldn't!
My favourite ( a bit little more! Only a bit! ) tracks are: ''Headturner'', ''Tell me 'bout it'', ''Put your hands on me'', ''Music'', ''What were we thinking'' and the Japanese bonus track ''My God'' which is a MASTERPIECE and the reason that I also chose to buy this version (I have the standard version also!) ! So, 5/5 !

Designing: The booklet of the album is really good and all the photos are perfect! Also, the front cover is the other reason that I wanted also this version of the album! It's so hot! So, 5/5 !

Singing: Ok! No comments on this! 5/5 without second thought!

SO, BUY THIS ALBUM AND ESPECIALLY THIS VERSION!!! It's one of the best albums ever from one of the best singers ever!!!

Introducing Joss Stone Japanese Import 10 Oct. 2007
By T. Gilligan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This CD is better than the Introducing Joss Stone that was released in the States.... The Japanese import has two songs that are excellent... Big Ole Game and My God..... It is worth buying even if you have the the one released in the states I bought one and my bff bought one... Just when I didn't think Joss could outdo herself she did it again!!

Joss' Introduction. 4 stars. 26 Nov. 2007
By Adrian Letsgo2thestars Cooper - Published on Amazon.com

First off, what is it with the people saying that the backup singers need to go away? They only enhance the experience, IMO. And also, did you NOT like the backup singers in her near-classic, Spoiled? That's a question you can ask yourself.

I find that this CD is good but nothing great. Sure, there are SOME good songs but I must admit Joss' head IS a little big (see Headturner). I don't hate her though. Besides, the song is fun. And if this is how she is trying to "re-introduce" herself to us then I'm all for the attempt. The only song here that I really don't care for is Proper Nice. What's up with that song? Haha. I'm not crazy about Bad Habit or Music either...The latter is actually growing on me but Lauryn Hill's rap is annoying IMO. I think she and Joss should have just sung together.

Anyway, on a lighter note my favorite song here is definitely Put Your Hands On Me. I find it to be real funky (which most of this CD is: funky). Some think Introducing Joss Stone is soulful like her first CD but I must disagree. I think it perfectly lacks soul. Here are my favorite songs:

Put Your Hands On Me
Bruised But Not Broken
Arms Of My Baby
Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now feat. Common

You know what I see that happened here? Joss definitely traded soul and got fun. That's what this is, a fun album. If you're looking for something even a little bit soulful, please, PLEASE look elsewhere. You won't find that here. But what is up with all these 1-star reviews? Do you think this CD is THAT bad? I mean really, come on here. This is still Joss Stone we're talking about. And besides, What Were We Thinking is in the same vein of what she used to sing. If you're reading this, Hi, Joss. I'm a big fan (I know if I was an artist I'd check to see what people thought of my album:P)!

P.S. I think Bruised But Not Broken should be her next single.

better the 3rd time 10 Feb. 2008

I came upon Joss Stone about 4 years ago from at friend a work. I heard her voice through the remakes and soulful ballads on the first 2 CDS...but Introducing Joss Stone has to be her greatest work. My favorite on it is Bruised but not Broken. I bought the CD and downloaded it to my IPod just before a cruise to the Bahamas and I don't think I listened to anything else the whole time. The songs on this CD really tells us a lot more about the artist than the first 2. If you don't have it, get it.
