Chris has been recording 50 years so it's hard to imagine who needs to be introduced to her. She's always had fans of every age imaginable and keeps gaining fans among the young (mainly people I think who hear their parents' Chris albums). This is a welcome collection of Chris' timeless recordings for Atlanta but, disappointingly, the album is a hodge podge. There is no rationale evident for the order of the songs--they're not chronological, they're not paced well. And there's no dip into Atlantic's vault for unreleased Chris (there is an Atlantic studio version of "All About Ronnie" that never has seen light), no fabulous singles such as "That's My Desire" (never on C.D. and there are two C.D.s worth of singles that could be packaged). The C.D. is beautifully mastered, I'll give it that. Chris as a musician miraculously never dates. She always sounds new as tomorrow.
