Product Description

About the Author

Robert Rankin grew up on a farm on Southeast Nebraska. A High School graduate who acquired his desire for writing soon after graduation. The Pearl Harbor incident occurred on December 7, 1941 and Mr. Rankin spent the next four years of his life in the United States Navy. He served aboard a Patrol Craft for three years in the South Pacific, keeping a diary and accurate records which he now uses to draw information for his second novel, "PC1119."

Intrepid Coitions was created by Mr. Rankin as a result of his acquaintance and interest in Nancy Dorman.

A must-read Novel with a Devil-May-Care inspiration.

Don`t Be Fooled 3 Mar 2004
Beware.
This is NOT the Robert Rankin of Sproutlore and Brentford fame.
This is another Robert Rankin, a fact which the publishers should have made clear, since they appear to be publishing both authors.
The book is described as a `must read book with a devil may care attitude`.I can only assume that this is a description of another book entirely. Intrepid Coitions is utter tripe written in a sort of neo Mills and Boon style but without any of the attraction. The story line, if you can call it that, reads like a juvenilles diary and it would be a travesty to say that there was any sort of plot within the confines of this book. The most interesting part of the whole thing was the cover notes about Robert Rankin who really shouldnt have given up a promising career in the military. His skills clearly don`t lie in writing books. This is without a doubt, the worst book i have ever read.It is the sort of book people emigrate to avoid. There is more to be gained from reading an out of date bus timetable from Belgium.
Only but this book if you want to send it to someone you really don`t like.Really, really don`t like.

Oh, I wish I'd read other reviews before buying this awful book. I agree entirely with every word.

I took this away with me on holiday, relishing an imagined previously undiscovered Rankin treasure. I was gutted when I realised I'd been had.

I actually read the book as I had nothing else to hand, and it is pure, unremitting drivel, a teenage boy's dross fantasy porn movie script.

It is entirely plot driven, the characters have no depth at all. The central character is a drop dead gorgeous, highly sexed woman, and the author is clearly living out his fantasy of being her, showing no understanding of women or men or emotions or behaviour. For example, at one point she has a pregnancy terminated, then is immediately gagging for more sex, crowing about paying the doctor by sleeping with him. Any woman will agree that this is not normal behaviour(!).

All the way through I was cringing and shaking my head in disbelief at this uneducated male view of what it's like to be a woman. Or even a man. I'm wondering if the author has ever met one?

I'm no prude, don't get me wrong, but the sex scenes are so badly written and full of cliches. I could almost hear the dodgy 70's lift music as I read. Again I doubt the author has actually experienced what he was describing?

Finally, it is littered with spelling mistakes and grammatical errors, plus constant repeated use of several words, luscious and sweet to name two. On page one, he uses "boxcar", "box-car", then "boxcar" again in quick succession.
