***Note: Einaudi's "Islands - Essential Einaudi" is on sale at Amazon for six pounds cheaper than this album. For me, it is a no brainer: buy that CD, and buy the "Intouchables" film, which is epic!***

Many can play the Piano, just not like Einaudi. Ludovico is a romantic, an artist, a genius.

Einaudi manages to communicate from his Heart through his fingertips to make the beautiful instrument that is the Piano sound like this.

The other night, whilst watching the film "The Intouchables" (a must-watch!) I heard the magical sound of the Piano and saw it was Ludovico's work. When I arrived home I searched for his songs. I could not detach myself from his music, so it is entirely Ludovico's fault that i stayed up til 3am!

So far, I've only listened to about 20 of his songs, and Nuvole Bianche (White Clouds) and Una Mattina (One Morning) are the most touching songs.

I won't waste your time. Just listen to those two songs (Divenire and Earth Prelude are also fantastic!) and enjoy this Artist's amazing work. =)

ps - if you think the music is good, you'll LOVE the film!

Almost as good as the film, this is a beautiful album with haunting melodies. Didn't expect there to be actual excerpts from the film but enjoyable nonetheless. Has not been off the CD player since it arrived!

Intouchables - Film only review

Intouchables is a French movie (pronounced - In Touch arrrr blah) that was released to cinemas in 2011. I took my girlfriend to see it on August 20th and we both loved it. We saw it at one of the three cinemas in The Hague that shows art house movies. It was showing with both Dutch subtitles and English, so we opted for the English for moi.

I had heard a lot of good things about this movie and all the hype it had bestowed upon it after it became France's second highest grossing movie of all time after only nine weeks of release. However, I wanted to make my own mind up and I am glad to say that it thoroughly deserves every fantastic critique it has had written about it. It is, put quite simply, a superb film and I loved it.

Recently, the movie became the highest ever grossing movie that was not in English language and took the record from the brilliant animation `Spirited Away' from Studio Gibli in Japan.

The Story

The story takes place in Paris, France and begins with two men in a car being chased by the police. The young black man makes a wager with the older white man and bets him that he can not only escape the police but get them to give him an escort to the hospital. At the hospital the story moves to flash back mode and the next one and a half hours is the story up until that point at the hospital, where the film continues to its conclusion. The story centres on a young black man named Driss. We see him attending a job interview and it soon becomes apparent that he doesn't want the job. He only wants a letter to say he attended but failed to land the job. He needs this letter to show to the government so he can claim benefits. He is interviewed by a man in a wheelchair and his aid.
