This is coooool! The combination of ancient oriental stringed instrument and dancy grooves is great to chill out to. And for 69p you'd be a fool to pass this up. There's a spiritual element to this music, which sits beautifully with the feel of the album - making your soul and your body want to move!

I saw a brief write up on this album on a hip hop website and after searching the internet for more info on Bei Bei and the gu zheng, was intrigued enough by the clips I heard to purchase the entire cd. I thought it was an amazing feat for Bei Bei & Shawn Lee to craft jazz & hip hop sounding songs around such a traditional instrument.
It's an entirely instrumental album except for 2 tracks featuring Georgia Anne Muldrow whose unique vocal styling gives the songs an almost throwback jazz feeling. I really enjoyed the track entitled WILLINGNESS - the lyrics and the instrumentation are so interesting to listen to.
My other favorites are: HOT THURSDAY, EAST (terrific track that starts off with just the gu zheng quietly then builds as the other instruments come in to support it), LITTLE SUNRISE, BEI'S BOSSA, THE MASTER ROOM, THE AMBUSH & THE BLUE GROTTO.
This is a really interesting & enjoyable set of music that I can highly recommend to the eclectic music lover!
