RK is criminally underrated in this country. He is a great, great talent. On this album alone I can play tracks to the girls in my office who swoon over his sentiment and soulful voice. I can play tracks to my guitar playing hard rock buds who raise eyebrows at his effortless guitar playing. Not just skill but tone and melody. This is a gooooood album full of standout tracks. 'Doin what the Devil Says' is a nice soulful piece and the follower 'Till you put me down' really rips it at the end with some fancy fast fretwork. In a way I'm glad he is relatively unknown over here as he is still playing smaller, intimate venues. None of that arena nonsense. Just buy one of his albums for gawd's sake!

This is absolutely brilliant. A guitar hero who can write songs. It's amazing. Buy this, buy everything because Richie Kotzen is God.

There's not a great deal that needs to be said about this album, other than the fact that it is a very solid Blues/Rock album. However, this album would more correctly be identified as a Rock/Blues album, as it is for the most part a Rock album with a touch of Blues. Which I believe is a hell of a lot better than a Blues album with a touch of Rock. Additionally, there simply are no weak spots on this album, and more than a few of the songs on this one are really outstanding. With 'You Can't Save Me', 'Doin' What The Devil Says To Do' and 'Till You Put Me Down' being a few of my favorites. Richie has one of the best voices in Rock and it really shines on this one. His exceptional voice is in top form, and his guitar playing has never been better. There is no question that this is one to buy.

Solid Rock in a mediocre world 9 Sep 2009

I have the album What Is. I'm not sure when that was done but I was thoroughly impressed with it. When I saw this online I purchased immediately. This one is even better than What Is. This is a talented guy. Please don't expect any lame one hit wonders. YOu will need a good 4 or 5 solid listens to gather all of the incredible songwriting and vocals on this. In this case...no radio play, so people don't ever get to hear it. We have to rely on an educated ear to get a review nowadays..it's pretty pathetic.

Every song on this record is outstanding as is with most of his stuff. It's truly amazing how the industry is so blind nowadays. If music was the focus....this guy would be all over the radio. ....

Rockin' Kotzen!!! 24 Jun 2013

Next to Richies Winery Dogs cd I find this to be right in my sweet spot of his writing styles. This is a rock album with blues and soul and funk elements rather than a blues and soul, funk album with rock elements. I love all of his work but for me this writing style is his strongest to me. 5 stars!!! If this albums had Soundgarden as the artist it would be selling millions and everyone would be talking about there "return to form". Buy it or download it but you must GET this one.

Strong outing from an extremely talented musician 16 April 2012

Let me start off by saying that I've been a huge fan of Richie Kotzen's since the Electric Joy days. His blend of old school R&B, soul and rock combined with his amazing legato technique and rich vocal delivery is incredibly powerful. Having said that, prior to buying this disc I hadn't heard any his solo stuff since Break It All Down Again. For me, this particular CD's strength is the honesty and directness of his vocal performance and the simplicity of the arrangements. However as much as I love Richie's vocal and guitar delivery I think the performances on bass and drums were flat and little too laid back. I definitely think this collection of songs would have been better served with a rhythm section that was a little more fluid and funky (I guess Atma Anur has gotten too expensive?) a la Norwood Fisher & John Steward from Fishbone. Still, its a strong effort from an immensely talented performer. There's not alot of fireworks on this disc, which suits the songs perfectly, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of blues based rock and simple, sincere songwriting. I also strongly encourage you catch Ritchie live if you can. That's where the real magic happens.
