Format: Hardcover
Into The Swarm is a real story, told in the pilots own words and from witnesses who were there to see, first hand; courage in battles in the sky against numerically superior enemy formations, intent on destruction and death. These fighter pilots were legends in the war years, but are largely unknown by the general public. Chris Yeoman and Tor Larsen have together yet again produced a superb example of a book written telling the story, not in just a factual way, but in a highly readable style that has pace, excitement and humour mixed in with the tragic loss of lives cut down in their prime. Here are the tales of the Woods-Scawen brothers both killed within a day of each other in the Battle of Britain, Barton of 249 Sqn, Mungo Park, Allan Wright, Pat Lardner-Burke, Finn Eriksrud, Kaj Birksted, Leif Lundsten and Arne Austeen:These men come alive again, soaring from these pages to impress a whole new generation of readers who will be sorry when they have finished this wonderful book and wonder why morel books of this type are not written in this way. Highly recommended, you will not be able to put this book down! Paul Davies Battle of Britain Historical Society, Cross and Cockade Society.

This very well laid out book, very well written which gives details of a selected group of fighter pilots and the aircraftmen who kept their planes in the air, in difficult or even battle conditions. I wondered what Allan Wright's picture did not appear in the section relating to his war time experiences?
