In the year 1982, the Gods sought to test their steel (BATTLE HYMNS)....Struck down by deceivers whilst their backs were turned, they were left for dead. But in the wake of confusion the fallen and the faithful did band together,to heal even stronger than before..This was seen by the Gods! For the prophecy of the Sacred King shall be fulfilled. They have risen up anew to drink the wine of vindication!******This is the inscription on the rear of the CD, "INTO GLORY RIDE" which is the follow up to "BATTLE HYMNS".With a new drummer,Manowar have defied their critics and produced an even better piece of merchandise than it's predecessor. To the true Manowar fan,who has missed out on their non-commercial rabble... JUST BUY IT AND ENJOY!

5.0 out of 5 stars Incomparable Metal 5 Jan 2013
By Hellion
Format:Audio CD
Alright, the album cover is straight from the Spinal Tap design studio but it was 1983 and the whole Dungeons & Dragons, sword and scorcery Conan epoch was arguably at its zenith.

DeMaio, Adams & Co were anything but pantomime Metallers, however, proven by three decades (to date) of forging forth with almost no concessions to fad or fashion but here, in the early days with a repertoire blending proto Black and Norse Metal that would inspire many imitators and indeed, generators, years later, including sub genres such as the symphonic bands, e.g. Rhapsody of Fire.

Not just form but supreme function because boy, could they play!

Whilst 'Ride' is an uncharacteristically poor production, sonically (something that can be partially overcome by the application of sheer amplitude,) the calibre of Metal crafting at hand is quite splendid.

The trademark piccolo bass sound of founder Joey DeMaio and signature, operatic range of frontman Eric Adams, work with the late Scott Columbus on drums and axeman, Ross 'The Boss' Friedman to deliver one of Metal's finest obscurities.

That criminal status is of course, wholly undeserved but the sheer ballsy aggression will repel many and that's absolutely fine: the more I ponder the manner of bands like Manowar and their lack of commerciality when considered against the oft found, sheer creativity and technical nous, the more positively exlusive the experience becomes and the greater one's care for the practictioner(s) becomes.

The highlights are Revelation (Death's Angel) and March For Revenge (By The Soldiers Of Death) but the summit of proceedings is Valhalla, during which Pavarotti Adams loses it completely and wails like a Viking possessed (by steel.

This album kicks serious ass from beginning to end.Forget the cover and enjoy the music. Definate highlightis 'Hatred' with it's plodding, very heavy, two chord riff and poetic lyrics such as 'I rip your flesh, I kill your face'! Other classics are 'March for revenge' 'Gates of Valhalla' and (oh why not just buy, borrow or steal this absolute metal classic).

4.0 out of 5 stars A great album but not as good as their debut. 13 July 2008
Format:Audio CD
This album is great andit's got the kick ass Warlord. This being manowars second album and just before their masterpiece Hail To England. This is a very good album with every song being awesome. I think the worst song here is Gloves Of metal it's good but the chorus (sorry to say) is a little bit messey but it's a great song live. Best songs here are Warlord, Secret If Steel, Gates Of Valhalla, Hatred & Revelation. The intro To the last song on the album is amazing though. Overall awesome album not my fave manowar album but still wicked. Good buy but buy hail to england first as it is their masterpiece.
