I am a new fan of the Thompson Twins of about three years ago. For me the 'into the gap' album is there best work from there long career. It screams the 1980's electro rock/pop sound with Tom Bailey's brilliant vocals. Allanah adds good backing with Joe leeway adding some high pitched lead in's. All the tracks are classics but 'Sister of mercy' has to be the best here. This issue does not have the mixes of the cassette so i'm marking it down.It would have been 5 stars if it had the extras and a better inner sleeve.

Into The Gap 17 Aug 2003
Format:Audio CD
People, like myself, born in the middle of the 1970's, were at the right age (almost) to enjoy this album on it's first release. I owned it on Vinyl, but the album was lost in a house move nearly seven years ago. I loved the Thompson Twins when they were performing. I was a member of their fan club, and even got a personal reply from the percussionist Alannah when I wrote to them. This album for me is Thompson Twins at it's best. All the tracks are superbly written, and the riffs are pure genius. For those who don't know Thompson Twins, they were around when Howard Jones was belting out tracks like New Song.

To sum up: If you loved synth-based 80's music, get this album!

Pure 80s Memories 25 Feb 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I have very fond memories of this album as I listened to it driving from North Yorkshire to West Germany in the summer of 1984. Doctor! Doctor!, You Take Me Up and Hold Me Now really are 80s classics but with the Egyptian sounding The Gap and the slow lament of Storm On The Sea, there is something on this album for anyone that enjoys a good bassline and superb use of electronic instruments. Far better than the earlier sound of Quick Step And Sidekick (1983) and probably only matched by their Greatest Hits compilation.
