When you consider the blood, sweat and tears that most bands go through before they get their first record deal, the Out Of Enrmies blueprint for success seems remarkably simple... 'We started out as just a few mates going down the pub, then going back to Ben s place to jam out' explains guitarist and main songwriter Chan Axsel. 'We wrote a few tunes, and played them along with covers at local venues. We eventually had enough of our own songs to gig properly, and after a small line-up change we went to a really cheap studio to cut some demos. Once we had recorded, we sent it to Rising Records...and here we are!' 'I know that none of us want to be some rubbish band that came out of nowhere all of a sudden, and will soon be heading back that way' insists Axsel. 'We re not trying to change the world or anything, we just enjoy playing songs that we like to listen to. Personally, I don t want to be stinking rich or anything, I just want to be able to make a living playing guitar...'
About the Artist
OUT OF ENEMIES come from Honiton, near Exeter, and consist of Ryan Shirley (vocals), Chris Chan Axsel (gtr), Gnar Leigh Scullion (gtr), Ben Andrew (bass), with a variety of stand-in drummers while they seek a permanent sticksman after the recent departure of Mike Bebman Richards, and they cite their influences as Lamb Of God, In Flames and Killswitch Engage.
