I bought one of these and it's two man brother for use on Lake Annecy in France, where it works beautifully. It is not a rigid kayak and so does not handle as well as they would (particularly the 2 man version where involuntary spins occur if you paddle too hard at the back - but that normally just adds to the kids fun!)

Like the other reviewer I would not recommend for sea use, but it handles the wakes and small waves on the lake competently. This big plus for us is it inflates and deflates very quickly and packs up into one bag which can be carried to and from your car. No having to fit roof racks and manoeuvre the kayaks onto the roof, just fold them up and sling them into the boot. This is a great, convenient and cost effective way to have fun on the water, we take ours out across the lake and paddle for hours. They are pretty tough too, no leaks after 4 years of use.

if you are a serious paddler you would not be considering this product, but if you want to have some fun with your family in suitable waters, you won't go wrong here. But buy yourself some better paddles if you are going to paddle for a long time.

fantastic little kayak 20 July 2011

I took this 1 man kayak for a 2 day kayaking trip in the lake district with all my baggage [inc tents etc] and it performed superbly. In fact it was better than some of my mates much more expensive kayaks [sevylors]it is quick and agile and has loads of luggage space.it is something of tardis, in terms of what you can fit in it. The person that gave this a one star [indoor toy review] is clearly inept in every way imaginable.

I have two of these - this is the second purchase. The kayak is not multi-purpose. I would not use it in a rough sea or in anything other than mild white water conditions on a river, but if you want something for canals, leisurely meanders down languid rivers or messing about off shore in a relatively quiet sea, this is well worth considering if cost is an issue. I use it mainly on lakes and on the sea, where I often use it as a fishing post tied to a bouy. I am impressed by its strength - this is no flimsy toy boat and in construction it compares reasonably with kayaks costing 3 or 4 times more. I am not claiming that it is as robust or versatile as the Sevylors or Sea Eagles, but it performs almost as well in most conditions at a fraction of the price. The body has two main compartments, either of which will keep you afloat and steerable if one punctures (I have tested this - after all I use mackeral hooks so wanted confirmation)
There are quibbles. The paddle comes in 3 sections and is bulky and cumbersome, but does the job in the conditions described and the blow-up seat could be better. Neverthess at the price it is a good buy
