My neighbour and I bought a couple of these for mucking about on the canal. We've ended up taking them all over the place, down rivers, out into the surf... and we're already planning a week-long mission for next summer. (You wouldn't believe how much stuff you can cram into these things.) I love mine so much that I commute in it! You really can't beat this for fun-for-the-money.

One thing to watch: The seat is attached by a thin strip of material, and for us this began to split after just a couple of weeks' use. The tear heads straight for the main buoyancy chamber... I'd strongly recommend cutting the seat off as soon as you get the kayak. Inflate the seat and put it flat in the kayak with the longest dimension running side to side, and it'll stay in place quite happily. You could supplement that with Velcro if you wanted. To be perfectly honest, you don't really need the seat at all.

Chop the seat off, show this the respect that any inflatable needs, and you'll love it.

I have been out in my K1 half a dozen times now (I am a complete kayak novice) and I have to say on the whole I'm very impressed. I've now bought a second one for my (7 year old) son who has had his first kayak session in his K1 and did remarkably well.
Having a pump included in the kit is a great bonus and the thing inflates very quickly - you can be ready to launch in less then 5 minutes.
It is worth noting that the weight limit (as stated on the box) is 80KG, which rather put me off buying it as I am 100KG. However I seem to have no issues and it handles very well. As a precaution I stick a small childs inflatable ring in the rear (behind the seat) for extra bouyancy but I don't think I really need it.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the paddle is the weak spot - after a couple of miles of fairly hard paddling the whole thing takes on a bit of a bend, but I've had no breakages - yet.
The other down side (and why I'm not prepared to mark this with a full set of stars) is the tendancy for the inflatable seat to rip at the point at which it is joined to the main body (of course this may be to me being overweight but I have heard of the seat problem elsewhere). I have now cut the seat off as the tearing was getting close to compromising the main body. I have not yet been out in it again since cutting the seat off, but am intending to still inflate the seat and sit on it - it just wont be attached to the rest of the kayak.

I managed to pick my K1's up new for £30 a piece so I'm definately happy. All good fun.

November Edit: I've been using my Challenger K1 right up until a week ago and have had no further problems after cutting the seat away. Works fine putting the seat in seperately. NO paddle breakages either, and that's after weekly use for several months.

what a kayak! 1 Oct 2010
ok it looks like a toy (damn dodgy colouring) but i have kayaked in this little gem and had no problems what so ever! the plastic on this is thick and sturdy! i've hit all kind of sharp things in it and it still lives! the patch they give you for it is also really good, allthough cut it to size before you use it as the ends will flap up otherwise! (repaired a friends kayak) i've used this on the sea and down rivers over three days and had no problem with inflation or having to pump it up! the underside tracking fins really help and keep you in line! myself and my friends all have inflatable kayaks and this kayak is the best one man kayak you can buy under £150! the one and only let down which has nothing to do with the kayak is the paddle! buy a knew one for twenty quid with water drip guards and that is more sturdy and u will not go wrong! best £50 i ever spent!
