Absolute MUST for any artist; especially: 'fine artists',

This review is from: Interviews with Francis Bacon: The Brutality of Fact (Paperback)
The most fascinating art related book I have yet read. Never had I expected Bacon to be so open and Frank about his own work. I've read and re-read it and will no doubt do so again. There were obviously very few people Bacon would consider worth speaking to in depth about his art and I'm grateful that David Sylvester was of sufficient calibre in Francis' mind otherwise there would be very little written material other than entertaining anecdotes and misinterpretive reviews etc. I'd like to know if the complete interviews have been published yet?John White

Insight to the mind of an artist,
By
This review is from: Interviews with Francis Bacon: The Brutality of Fact (Paperback)
This book reveals the mind of the artist, in his own words, without the distortion of an art critique. Bacon was 'in tune' with himself and with the time in which he lived and worked. His honest and truthful respons to the interviews should put speculations and theories about his paintings to naught.

The collected interviews are merged into a more coherent whole.
Well worth the price to see inside the mind of a great artist
