This is the follow-up to Joan Clayton's brilliant book "Journalism for Beginners". "Interviewing for Journalists" is a practical step-by-step guide to conducting professional interviews with celebrities, specialists and the boy next door. The book begins by answering 40 questions most asked by beginners - intelligent questions that any wannabe journalists will need to know. The book goes on to cover planning an interview, how to approach people, conducting an interview, how to deal with the endless problems that will arise and finally writing it up. Not forgetting, of course, the most important issue of selling your work. Joan clayton does not beat around the bush, her writing is easily comprehendable and she gives clear diagrams wherever necessary. As with her previous book, she explains the difference betweens amateurs and professionals and ultimately teaches you how to write copy that ediotrs will want - how to write copy that sells.

This was an interesting book. The author spent a fair bit of time talking about different approaches to questioning. I am familiar with the subject but still picked up a few tips. One to come back to in 6 months time for another look.
