The 50+ group is the fastest growing segment of Internet users. This book will help you take your place in this evolution, so that you can discover the opportunities and the benefits of the Internet. It introduces you to the latest software Internet Explorer 7 (as used in Windows Vista) and tells you how you can install this on your Windows XP system. However, the emphasis is on the tasks that you want to carry out over the Internet, rather than the technology and equipment used.
Activities discussed include searching the Internet, solving puzzles and quizzes, playing games of skill such as chess and bridge, planning vacations, exploring arts and crafts, researching your family tree, managing money and investments, and keeping in touch with family and friends. The book helps make sure that all your Internet experiences will be safe, enjoyable and useful. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.

Help the aged!!,

I got "Internet for Seniors" as well as the "laptops for seniors" for my 56 year old mum who has no computer experience at all. I'd highly recommend both, they have alot of screenshots to make things clear, with little tips on things to remember and things not to forget. There are some good sites listed in the book as well such as quizzes and crossword sites that she has enjoyed going on. I got these instead of the "For Dummies" series as i wanted to avoid any Americanisms, i'm happy that i made the right choice, and mum can now happily send and recieve e mails with attachments and browse and buy things online. (she was scared to write a review though!)

A good clear book, but based around Windows XP which wasn't clear in the review material. Just right for our friend to make progress with computing
