Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

The Internet moves at lightening speed and if you are new to the online world it can be a touch intimidating. However, as Angus Kennedy makes clear in The Rough Guide to the Internet 2001, you don't need to know much before you can find your way around all the different sites.

The first half of this pocket-sized book covers the basics, with step-by-step instructions on everything you will need to know from choosing an Internet service provider to building your own Web site and the second part is a condensed listing of Web sites to get you going.

The style of this smart book is very refreshing. Kennedy does not mince his words and his guide is likely to turn you into a net guru in next to no time. This updated edition is packed with practical advice including the latest on MP3s, information on how to log on while you are on the road and also includes a concise potted history of the Web.

If Tony Blair was serious about getting the UK online he would insist that everyone got a copy of this book in their Christmas stockings. --Justin Hunt --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Marek Kohn, Independent on Sunday, London, UK

A rare, if not unique, instance of a net guide I can recommend without embarrassment to the unwired.

5.0 out of 5 stars The "must-have" Internet guide!, 14 Jun 2001

I'm an old hand at the Internet, but Angus Kennedy's Rough Guide shows me bits of the terrain that I didn't know before - and all in such easy-to-read style! This is one book that I beg our new-to-the Internet Web design customers to buy... It makes our job so much easier once they have read it! If you are a "Newbie", and can only buy one book to help you with the confusion you feel about the Internet, this is IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent - a real must have - best value IT book there is., 5 Nov 2000
Forget your Personal electronic thingy, this is probably the best pocket media out there. Pocket sized and pocket priced (although the old price of £5 was more conveniently pocket-sized too). This will be the fifth edition I've bought and I'm responsible for at least 3 other sales. Clear and concise, no-one will regret buying this golden nugget. Angus also writes the problem page of the "E-Mail" section of the Daily Mail on Tuesdays if you want to sample his wise words first.
