Well, as it is the greatest hits of Green Day - best band in the world, it's bound to be quite good isn't it?!
Maria: Catchy, one of their earlier numbers 3/5
Poprocks & Coke: Yet another catchy song, but not as good as some of the others 4/5
Longview: The bassline will stick in your head FOREVER. Great drumming at the beginning!! 4.5/5
Welcome to Paradise: This is one of their first songs, but already you can recognise Billie Joe's remarkable song writing talents. 4/5
Basket Case: Undoubtebly one of the greastest punk songs of all time! You'll never get fed up with it!! 6/5!
When I come around: Great riff all the way through! Once again, you'll never get bored of it. 5/5
She: Everything about this song is amazing. Even the one note bassline at the beginning is amazing! This is one of my fav songs. 5/5
You get the idea now, right!? :P

What can I say? The "Best of" collection of one of the greatest bands in the world. You know it's gonna be good! It also contains all their best from Longview to Minority, Basket Case to Warning-you get the picture. I only really got into Green Day in the middle of 2004, and since buying this album, I'm a huge Green Day fan! This is Green Day at their prime, so to anyone who has never heard anything before "American Idiot" I cannot reccomended this enough!

A very enjoyable party cd; bung it in the player and it does the headbanging job.
What can I say? It's a Greatest Hits, so chances are, if you're considering buying it, it's because you already like Green Day. As a belated introduction to the band, it's invaluable. Some weaker tracks have been included, and neither of the two new tracks (the openers) make much of an impact. But the likes of Longview, Basket Case, Brain Stew, Hitchin' a Ride and Good Riddance make up for it. Definately one for the collection, and perhaps an essential purchase for those who've only just started listening to Billie Joe, Mike and Tre after the success of American Idiot.
One thing though... why did one reviewer rate this album if he hates the band so much???

What can be said about this album? Quite simply, it's fantastic! In an age when Busted and McFly are consindered punk (Joe Strummer must be turning in his grave!)it's time for the good old boys to show everyone how it's done. Many purist's say that it's not real punk, but if punk in all about short, thrashed out tunes with plenty of attitude that get's you pogoing around like Zebedee on Pro Plus, then this is punk at it's very best. True, many people do feel the same way about Busted and McFly and if that's what rocks their boat then fine, but one listen to tunes like Basket Case, Hitchin a Ride and Geek Stink Breath proves that todays bands have a lot of catching up to do. Amongst the great rock tunes is, in my opinion, one of the greatest tunes ever written by anyone, Good Riddence (time of your life). Billy Joe, an acoustic guitar and a few strings, it's perfection. And that's not the only ballad, Macy's day parade is a cracking tune to, which shows that these boys can be chilled out and sensitive when they need to be. Also listen to Warning, then put on Picture Book by The Kinks, The similarity is pretty clear! If you haven't got this album and are wondering about weather or not to buy it I'm telling you that the answer is yes! Invest your money and you won't be disappointed! It's a perfect introduction to the band and a great album to own in it's own right. There are many pretenders to the thrown, but Green Day are atop a plinth of Marshall Amps waiting for the crowd to catch up. A brilliant collection from a fantastic band

Some outstanding songs on the album would have to be 'Longview', a sarcastic look at the life of REAL people (lol that's the only way I can describe it!); 'Minority', a classic Green Day song which will always be chanted at one in the morning after parties by me and my mates; 'Good Riddance', a touching ballad that is complemented brilliantly by Billie Joe's unique voice and gentle guitar-playing, (it has reduced me to tears in some less sober moments!); 'Warning', a nice, bold look at how authority protects us... actually no, it's just a long list of warnings... buy the album and listen to it if you really wanna know!!!
The last track of the album brings you down brilliantly - the amazingly moving Macy's Day Parade. Again, Billie Joe's lovely voice reaches all the peaks and troughs of this nice, long ballad about - well, you have to listen to it, I sing along all the time but I haven't worked out exactly what it's about yet! It's such a LOVELY song though!
But, if it's hardcore Green Day punk that you're looking for, BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!!! I can go on about the 'lovely songs' but an album full of them would get boring, and it is the good old upbeat, throw-yourself-around-the-room type of punk-pop that Green Day do best that brings this album to life, which is evident in songs such as 'Longview', 'She', 'JAR', 'Poprocks and Coke'... I could go on but I'm only allowed 1000 words!
To sum it up, this album will lift you up into the sky when you're in a bad mood, vent your frustration when angry, and give you a reason to bounce around when you're feeling hyper! BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!!! Just go! Now! Get out the credit card and... BUY IT!
