International Law is widely celebrated as an outstanding collection of interesting and diverse writings from the leading scholars in the field. Bringing together a broad range of perspectives on all the key issues in international law, it is a unique and invaluable resource for students and practitioners alike. Featuring specially commissioned essays written by those actively involved in teaching and practice, the third edition succeeds both in explaining the principles of international law and exposing the debates and challenges that underlie it. Now fully revised and updated, it continues to provide an authoritative and stimulating overview of this increasingly important subject; revealing international law in its full diversity. The third edition of International Law is accompanied by a new Online Resource Centre, featuring the personal views and recollections of eminent international law practitioners.

Product Description

Reviews from previous edition: "There is enough here for even the most demanding of undergraduates. For those about to embark on higher-level specialized courses, I doubt this collection could be beaten as a point of departure." -- Martin Dixon, Times Higher Education Supplement "The first editions of Evans' International Law provided an excellent and accessible overview of public international law for advanced use. The third edition clearly makes it a leading overview of PIL" -- Marta C. Johanson, Senior Lecturer in Public International Law, Orebro University, Sweden "The range of opinions and perspectives, combined with the authors' expertise, is unique for a contemporary textbook of international law" -- German Law Journal "

5.0 out of 5 stars International law 11 Aug 2011
I think for those who are interested in international law, it's a very nice book for help... Even though it's not the ideal book for deeper technical information. It's more like "politics of law"; but it's normal since international law is quite flexible in comparison to domestic law...

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Introduction to International Law 20 Jan 2005
By Jerome Scanlan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I am an experienced lawyer with no background in international law. I had read the 2d edition of Janis' book some years ago and was looking for a more comprehensive treatment. I started with Shaw's book and found the writing turgid (to use a turgid work) and then tried Brownlie's, which was somewhat better but didn't seem worth the effort. (Brownlie authored a chapter in the present book.) This book is just right. Well organized, comprehensive, and clearly written. As with most edited works, the chapters vary in quality, but even in the weaker ones the topic is adequately covered.
