Uncensored, no-holds-barred action from Kiev as eight men battle it out for the Ultimate Fighting Championship title. Those fighting it out include Paul 'The Polar Bear' Varelans, Gerry Harris, Fred 'The Mangler' Floyd, Igor 'The Russian Machine' Vovchanchini, John Lober, Eric Heberstrelt, Bas Rutten and Ron 'The Black Dragon' Van Clief.
This tournament took place in the early years of mixed-martial-arts. Many of the fighters weren't anywhere near as skilled as today's athletes.
Even so, this is a great 'old school' event. The only rules are 'no biting' and 'no gouging' - Anything else is allowed.
Eight fighters compete in the tournament, with the winner having to fight three men in the same night. In the first round, four Ukrainians face off against four huge Americans (in some cases giving a weight mismatch of over 100 pounds, and a height mismatch of 12").
All the fights end with a KO, stoppage, or submission.
Most importantly, one of the entrants in the tournament was Igor Vovchanchyn - perhaps the most devastating puncher in the sport. It's worth owning this DVD just to see his explosive fights.
The DVD also includes a 30 minute feature, showing more of Igor's fights.
One of the best No Holds Barred dvd's available in this country (up to now). A tournament from Keiv Ukraine as part of the International Fighting Championships (IFC) tour. This for many was the first glimpse of Igor (ice cold) Vovchancyn who went on to be one of the most devastating punchers in the sport. This dvd pretty much has it all, Knockouts (one in particular is quite literally ONE PUNCH) Submissions and some out and out beatings most involve Igor. All in all well worth the money if your a NHB fan and if your not then I'm pretty sure this would change your mind.
