4.0 out of 5 stars Good cricket management game 30 July 2013

It's not so much captain as manager I guess - if you want to be part of the action this isn't the game for you. If you want a management game then this is good - has extensive records and stats for all formats of the international and first class games. You can manage international, english county, aussie state and indian premier league teams. You create the squad, train the players, pick the team and tactics just like any good management game.

5.0 out of 5 stars A superb management game 21 Sept. 2013

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
If you want a cricket game where you play matches, then this isn't for you. But if you want a cricket game where you manage your team, then this is rivaled only by the more recent version, ICC 2013. First, you pick a team you want to play as, then you buy more players if you want, then play (in my case) the english county season. During matches you can select how aggressive you want your batsmen to play and how aggressive you want your bowlers to bowl. You can set your batting order up before the match. At the end of each season you can bid for more players andd renew your player contracts if they've expired. All in all , this is a great management game. (PS: there is a 2 day trial of this game on the makers website [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars CC hits a six 30 July 2013

Although a little dated, (old players), its still one of the best cricket captain games about. However "easy" mode is too easy and "hard" is exactly that, and can become annoying. But all in all still worth it for a reduced price

1.0 out of 5 stars The same old lazy game engine..... 25 Aug. 2012

Fun: 2.0 out of 5 stars
The developer seems to continue to convince people that they have a new game engine, well if it is it doesn't feel that way. This is still the same annoying game it was back in 2010.

The good points - they have updated the stats

The bad points - most of the time if you try to attack in T20 or 50 over games you get out. When I say attack I mean score at more than 6 an over. CPU teams don't appear to suffer from this problem and they merrily accumlate ones and twos (something your playes seem unable to do) before going crazy in the final overs and smacking the ball all over the place. Before anyone says it, I've tried to approach games in different ways but they very rarely have any effect.

The fact that there are no player ratings and just averages I struggle to work out who is any good other than established players who already have good averages. I know in the real world you don't have players ratings but damn this a computer game, it's not like you can actually watch the players like you could in real life!

After a season or two (yes I kept playing to see if it got any better) it becomes very easy to attract all the best players and then the game become too easy.

It tends to feel like a game whereby whatever you do has little effect and you just keep clicking the mouse every so often. Spending a lot of time moving fields round etc doesn't acheive anything and anyone who convinces themselves it does is a fool!

I think it's a shame that this is the only option for a cricket management game as it would be quite easy to be better than this effort by simply putting a bit of thought into it.
