I knew that caloric restriction had benefits, but reading this book gave me the inspiration do actually do it! It's not as hard as you think. Anyone who has struggled with their weight should check this book out. I think this is the best "diet" ever. This is one "diet" that is easy to start and continue, and the health benefits can be amazing. The science behind it is overwhelming. It's worth a second-look, and I recommend this super-fast read, especially if you're considering a way to lower your risk of diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Fasting intermittently when combined with a quality detoxification program and high intensity bursts of exercise are the things to do to get the metabolism going for maximum weight loss.Over the years, I've tested some of these things myself and they worked for me.The only other thing to do is to consult with your medical providers while implementing this program. In addition, work with a good physical therapist and even a nutritionist.

I like the idea of this book, and I agree that fasting is an interesting and promising way to help your body detox. But this book was way too basic, in my opinion. It didn't give much how-to, and even though there were quite a few research studies summarized, I wish they had been better incorporated into the text of the book.

If you are going to attempt something like fasting, I think it would be wiser to start with a more in-depth book or a more knowledgable source (like Dr. Mercola), just so you know what you are getting into and how to do it right. Overall, this book just wasn't thorough enough for my taste.
