One of the best 28 Oct 2002
Format:Audio CD
I have had this album - on vinyl(!) - since it was first released and just love it! It sounds perhaps a little dated these days (when compared to some of the new kids on the block) but it is one of my very favourite albums of all time and - in my humble opinion - classic Dio. Old school fans of the Sabbath era (like myself) grew up on this wonderful fodder. If you love guitar solos, drums to beat your heart to and the voice of a God - you cannot fail to enjoy this album. It rocks!! :o)

Apart from one previously unreleased studio track, this CD is a live EP from Dio. Here the band performs 5 tracks taken from their first three albums, recorded in concert at the San Diego Sports Arena in 1986.

Until this EP, the only live tracks of the band could be found as single B sides, recorded at the Castle Donnington Festival of 1983. Here however Dio makes up for the previous ommission with a powerful performance from the band and a good choice of tracks. Of note is an excellent version of Rock'N'Roll Children, which includes a medley of two Rainbow classics:- Long Live Rock'N'Roll and Man On The Silver Mountain.

This is a must for any Dio Fan.

Not The greatest 10 Nov 2010
By Baldman
Format:Audio CD
IMHO Dio was one of the best voices in rock. However, this live e.p., mini-album, released as a stop gap between studio albums is pretty dire. The vocals are good, the guitars are all present and correct, but the live cuts are spoiled by a very irritating percussion sound. Instead of sounding deep and thunderous, the drums are thin and weedy and the cymbals very sibillant throughout. Bit of a cut and paste job, with a solitary studio track with the then new guitarist, Craig Goldie. Even this track lacks the power of classic Dio. One for the collectors only I'm afraid.
