5.0 out of 5 stars Finally - a great dvd for intermediates! 29 Jan 2008
By Elle
Format:DVD
This DVD really is a breath of fresh air - if you have a morning practice, then the beautiful backdrop of Hawaii will encourage you out of bed (particularly in winter). This is perfectly pitched for intermediates and incorporates snatches of Ashtanga/Power yoga practices which will improve your stamina. The DVD explores more challenging postures, such as Ardha Chandrasana (Half Moon) and Sirsasana (Handstand), and more challenging versions of basic postures, such as Trikonasana (Triangle). Rodney Yee's instructions are clear and provide a great dialogue for experienced yogis to follow.

Definitely a must-have for an intermediates and well worth adding to your collection.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for intermediates 25 Jan 2008
By Chrissy
Format:DVD
Having got plenty of Yoga DVD's I had come to believe that all were predominately aimed at beginners and the most that any more advanced DVD included was salutation to the sun and possibly a shoulder stand.

This one though is definately for an intermediate. It begins with saluation to the sun at a fairly fast pace, adding a few variations and some other standing poses.

It then has an 'inverted poses' section where you are encouraged to try a handstand and headstand (against a wall if necessary).

The back bends include bow, camel and wheel and there are a good number of spinal twists at the end of this section so your back feels re-aligned.

I have given it a 4 simply because it's quite short. The DVD lasts 1 hr 5 mins altogther but after the intro there is about 45mins of yoga including the relaxation. I wish there was a DVD out there at this level that did the full 1 1/2hours worth of yoga practice as now I have a baby I rarely have chance to go to a local yoga class!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for intermediates 1 May 2009
Format:DVD
This is the best yoga dvd I have come across, it is a good step up from the beginner level and is challenging unlike others I have tried, I love the fact that it has head stands and other more advanced postures, it is fast paced and enjoyable. Definately not for beginners or those looking for a more gently style of yoga but highly recommended for those wanting to progress from the beginner stage and try something a little more challenging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great all-round workout 12 May 2010
By Louise
Format:DVD
I thought this video was a great help in moving my home practice from beginners level to intermediate. It covers lots of postures in an hour and moves through them at a nice pace.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent 7 Jan 2010
Format:DVD
Excellent. A no-frills intermediate yoga class very well constructed and guided. Some of the poses are challenging but great to be able to have them on video (not just in a live class with a live instructor).

3.0 out of 5 stars Definitely intermediate- lots of inverted poses 12 Jan 2012
By Jo7890
Format:DVD
I bought this dvd as I found my current one too slow. There's many things I like about this dvd - it starts with sun salutations and then moves to inverted poses and floor stretches. The scenery is gorgeous, which is always nice, and there's nothing irritating about the rest of the aspects, Rodney is good to watch and there's no annoying music (at least nothing to make me notice there is even music!)
Maybe I over-estimated myself, but I found this quite hard. I am used to yoga classes where there's an even mix of standing poses, inversions and floor poses. I am naturally quite flexible but not that strong - having not done yoga in a few weeks, and because there are a lot of inversions which I'm not used to, it will be a while until I'm able to do this all the way through.
The sun salutation sequence is also very fast - but it's a good dvd, you just need to feel comforatble you are intermediate level, and if it's been a while, go back to an easier one first!

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good 17 Nov 2013
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
This is a dvd I have done many times. Good general initial standing sequence that can be repeated over and over again. Some more difficult poses in the initial sequence - reverse triangle pose, warrior three. A section on headstand, shoulderstand and inverted poses. This can be skipped if you are running short of time. I tend to repeat the first sequence of the dvd. Nice setting by water. I have many yoga dvds but this is the one I seem to keep going back to. Nice calming voice with good tips from Rodney.

5.0 out of 5 stars Step up 10 Mar 2013
By Sandra
Format:DVD
Having used his beginner video 'power yoga' for a long time, I was still surprised how much if a step up this was. Nicely divided into sections - it will take me a while to get on top of it.

bought as a gift for a reasonably experienced yoga follower. Unsure whether this would be challenging enough as it is labelled as intermediate. Read more
