This book is essentially an intermediate grammar reference. It covers quite a lot of ground including verb forms, participles, cases, and particles. I have looked at a portion of the book from a number of different chapters and reckon I have seen enough to form an opinion.
The author approaches grammatical concepts in an accessible way for the layman self teacher, citing examples in English before delving into the Arabic. He gives exercises in each chapter, and answer keys are provided. Arabic vowelled script is used along with transliteration.
As a lower intermediate self-learner, I have found this book valuable. An excellent and inexpensive tool for those who have, for example, completed the Mastering Arabic series by Wightwick and Gaafar.

Excellent for Self-Study! 15 Feb 2009
By E-Shah - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I really like this book. It has transliteration into English of all the Arabic, even in the exercises. This is good for me, since I never totally mastered the alphabet in my basic studies. It's organized into useful sections, treating the tricky grammatical topics I need to learn better. I've even laughed out loud at some of the humor he puts into the writing.

Very Simple 15 April 2011

This book did not turn out to be what I expected. The section on handwriting especially is useless. Arabic letters are written with parts above and below the line and it's impossible to figure that out from the information given because the letters are not written on lines. The rest of the sections are also very basic. I think this book would be best for travelers to the middle east. It is not of much use for students wishing to learn formal Arabic grammar.

Excellent/Outstanding 21 Mar 2010

Excellent book for learning the Arabic language and this is coming from a person who is a native speaker of Egyptian dialect. I believe my children who aren't as solid in their Arabic will benefit from the grammatical explanations here.
