Interior Design is a solid reference book for the serious amateur designer to the true industry professional. Unfortunately there aren't any good British titles out there so you have to put up with a lot of American styling and references. A must for the office!

Fantastic 28 Nov. 2000
By SueP - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
I bought "Interior Design" when I was a design student and found it indispensible. This book outlines every aspect of interior design including residential, corporate, and hospitality. Unlike many design manuals its information and photographs are timeless. I am now a design professional and still find John Pile's book to be helpful to me. For anyone planning a career, working in the field or simply considering the leap this book is well worth the investment. For those who plan to take the NCIDQ (Design) Exam this book is recommended reading and a worthwhile purchase.

Great book for anyone 23 Dec. 2002
By Jexii - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I am not in school for Interior Design but I am very interested in learning more about it. This book was great for me because it provided a very complete overview of many areas of interior design. It addresses many issues at a high level such as color theory, the psychological impact of design on people, information about interior design for different types of spaces (home, office etc...). This book is very much a text book. If you are in design school or serious about wanting to know more about interior design in general this is a great book to start with and use as a reference.

Interior Design 18 Nov. 2004

This book is without a doubt, the best book for Interior Design students. Of all the books on this subject that I own, this is the one I turn to most often for reference. If you have no other book in your reference library, you must have this one.

Excellent 7 Feb. 2006
By Valerie J. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This is one of several of Mr. Pile's books that are on my bookshelf. He is my interior design Guru. He has guided me through many an interior student minefield and brought me out unscathed and with a good grade. Again, good quality binding, paper, presentation, crystal clear text, great colour photography, and tons of information. Whatever I needed to find, it was right there. What more can I say?

Intro To Design 20 Feb. 2006
By L. Swan - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This book is one of the prerequesite books required to the students for my Intro To Design class. Pile is very informative, but sometimes over my head in his descriptions. We use this book along with Ching and I find Ching to be in much simpler wording. The pictures are beautiful in Pile....inspiring. A big investment ($80.00) for the serious design student....and worth it, in my opinion.
