I have looked at a good few similar products on Amazon but this is the only one I have found that didn't look flimsy or get negative feedback about the build quality. I'm glad I bought it - it's fairly tough moulded plastic with suitably firm knobs (chuckle).

The umbrella slot is tear drop shaped and it looks like it will accept umbrellas with a diameter of 5mm up to 10mm. A spigot is supplied which is topped with a standard thread, and also a screw-on cold shoe adaptor. This is slightly too small for a Canon Speedlite 580EX II and to secure mine safely I basically didn't quite push the Speedlite foot all the way in to the cold shoe before locking it off. One slight grumble is that the cold shoe does not feel secure screwed onto the top of the spigot and it can easily be loosened by adjusting the flash controls... but then there are other solutions on the market for that!

All in all I am quite satisfied and will probably be ordering a couple more. I'd obviously rather have the shiny Manfrotto version of this essential accessory, but for the photographer on a budget this product is actually much better quality than most of the cheap alternatives we usually end up buying.

For the price this is an excellent piece of equipment, ideal for use with the cheap stand and brollies it is advertised with.
The locking nuts are plastic, and I would not want to be constantly opening/closing them, the core is a reasonable quality metal. It does the job very well. I am an ex professional, needing it now infrequently. Combined with the stand and any of the cheap umbrellas advertised with it, makes for an excellent cheap portable studio flash unit.

Does the job 7 July 2011

Well its a simple item, and relatively cheap (considering the alternatives) - but it does the job just fine. The build is probably not the best, but its robust, with a smooth swivel action, and has a spigot to attach to a hotshoe mount. All in all very impressed!

Very poor quality
Very poorly made. Not stable. I have no confidence that my umbrella will stay stable or that the flash won't fall off, so it's going in the bin and I'm going to replace it with a... Read more

Not What I Ordered
The mount which turned up was not Interfit. Cheap copy with fragile plastic hot shoe adapter which annoyingly rotates as you tighten it!

I think the other reviewers need a bit of a reality check...
It's okay but to be honest the locking mechanism screw is just going to damage your lightstand (why not just have it use a 1/4" screw, which I would have thought every lightstand... Read more

Great product. Does what it says on the tin. Cheap but works well. Made with hard plastic. I highly recommend it.
